With less than two weeks to go for the plastic ban to come into effect across Tamil Nadu, the state government has released a descriptive list of items that have been banned. In addition to this, the state has also recommended eco-friendly alternatives that it hopes will replace plastic.



On World Environment Day this year, with a view to curb the effects of plastic on the environment, the Tamil Nadu government announced a ban of non-biodegradable and single-use plastic and had recommended the use of natural, environmental-friendly products. Explaining the dangers that the use of plastic has on the environment and on animals, Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami told the Assembly on June 5, “With the vision of gifting a plastic-free Tamil Nadu to our future generation, the government hereby bans the use of plastic goods of all sizes (microns).”



The House Select Committee had also recommended the restricted use of plastic for daily-use products like milk, curd, oil and medicines.

Take 1 handful of Avarampoo and put it in 1 tumbler water along with Cinnamon powder or Cinnamon piece and let it boil for 5 mins. Now filter the contents and use it as Tea. This is very good for Diabetes.

Ingredients:



1. Avarampoo

2. Garlic – 6 pieces

3. Shallots- 6

4. Tomato-1

5. Induppu

6. Ginger-1 piece

7. Sesame Oil

8. Pepper - 1 Spoon

9. Urad Dhal - 1 Spoon



Fry all the above ingredients in Sesame Oil and grind it to a paste once it is cool. Avarampoo Thuvaiyal is ready. It is very good for health and has many medical benefits. This is equivalent to Thanga Paspam and when we include it in our regular diet, it gives a golden glow.

Senna auriculata is a legume tree in the subfamily Caesalpinioideae. It is commonly known by its local names matura tea tree, ranawara or avaram, (Kannada: ಆವರಿಕೆ āvarike, Telugu: తంగేడు taṃgēḍu, Tamil: ஆவாரை āvārai) or the English version avaram senna. It is the State flower of Telangana.

The leaves are alternate, stipulate, paripinnate compound, very numerous, closely placed, rachis 8.8-12.5 cm long, narrowly furrowed, slender, pubescent, with an erect linear gland between the leaflets of each pair, leaflets 16-24, very shortly stalked 2-2.5 cm long 1-1.3 cm broad, slightly overlapping, oval oblong, obtuse, at both ends, mucronate, glabrous or minutely downy, dull green, paler beneath, stipules very large, reniform-rotund, produced at base on side of next petiole into a filliform point and persistent.



Its flowers are irregular, bisexual, bright yellow and large (nearly 5 cm across), the pedicels glabrous and 2.5 cm long. The racemes are few-flowered, short, erect, crowded in axils of upper leaves so as to form a large terminal inflorescence stamens barren; the ovary is superior, unilocular, with marginal ovules.
